  pastor russell cherry picked his theology; a little from here and a little from there.. he scarcely had an original idea in his head!.

  from christadelphian emphatic diaglott he got the "parousia" invisible jesus idea, for example.

  JWs growing in numbers despite opposition and criticism from apostates and other religious commentators. Why?

  i believe there are now over 7 million jws worldwide(correct me if i am wrong).

  what makes this growth possible despite all the exposure on the internet and other media?.

  not forgetting court cases and lawsuits.. is this not a sign that perhaps this is the true religion?.

  some of you may recognize me from jwr and jws where i am the only resident "jezebel".

  my mother decided we were to become witnesses when i was 3 years old.

  my father disagreed, they divorced.. the "friends" set her up with a "nice new brother" and they married that same year.

  Think About It

  Jez......did the elders contacting you at work cause you any problems with your employer? This concerns me because a Supervisor who is prejudice against JW's could still think the employee is a JW. On down the road, the person could be let go by the Supervisor under some other pretense, when it really was related to the JW elders making it known at the person's work that he or she had some connection to the JW's and he or she possibly did something wrong.

  I've been in situations where people didn't know my JW past and I seen how prejudice they can be against JW's. There are discrimination laws against this, but it is very hard to prove. The WTS should inform it's elders that they should never contact a person at work unless they have the person's permission.

  "Youth book" said 97% of teenagers Masturbate...but none of them are Witnesses! Is this unrealistic?

  "youth" book and "young people ask" admitts that 97% boys and 92% of girls masturbate but of course none of the holy decent witness teenagers would ever do such a thing and earn jehovahs anger!

  how realistic is this?

  97% of the world have t.v's or a telephone!

  Think About It

  Knorr at Bethel would too often have his morning worship comments about masturbation. He would sickeningly go on and on about it. Those mornings, in my perception, the boys didn't have quite the normal springy walk to the factory. I did hear one Bethelite there complain he was getting tired of hearing Knorr talking on and on about masturbation just before we had our scrambled eggs.

  I hate this about this religion. They just don't know when to have the common decency to just STF up. For a leader of a religion to talk about this subject several times before breakfast is indication of a warped mind.

  For how long can they massage the figures ?

  so looking at the worldwide report , the baptisms are down , many countries are 0 growth ,publishers, hours , and studies up because of changes in reporting methods .

  but just how long can the propping up of numbers happen for , before the real downward slide starts ?

  a year or two tops , which will be real close to 2014 .

  Been gone 15 yrs and I have some questions.

  When did the 15 min reporting start? Does it count as an hour or is time broken down into 15 min increments? (i.e.. 0.25 hrs for month) This no doubt was to clearly manipulate the amount of "regular publishers" reported in the yearbook.

  When I left elders were encouraged to be at least the average pub hours. (10 hrs then) How many hours do elders need now?

  Back then, Pioneers were 90 hrs and Aux.Pio's were 60 hrs. Has that changed also?

  Nice story. Sorry for the pain you went through. Sounds like you are doing good now.

  It infuriates me when I read about elders contacting people at work over a possible cong. judicial issue. It should NEVER happen!

  The bigger the machine the more oil is needed to keep it running smoothly.

  The WTS machine can only run so long without growth before the gears start breaking down.

  With no growth, the WTS cuts expenses and asks for increased donations. Eventually, the remaining hardcore JW's get old and can't donate as much unless they are wealthy. Might be more of a guilt trip put on people to leave their estates to the WTS.

  The internet has been very exposing of the WTS. With only a 1/3 retention rate, elders dropping like flies and people leaving in droves.....I look for a "softening" of some doctrines & policies that will keep more people in and the money still flowing.

  Then again, as Cattails brought out.....they could print articles explaining all this as some great 'sifting' that leaves only Jehovah's true Witnesses remaining right before Armaggedon. The WTS could become more hardcore and fanatical as ever.

  Frustrated with Holidays

  i know we have all talked about the fact that holidays today don't mean what they did in the ancient past.

  i don't like the word pagan, becuase of all the negative conatations associated with it.

  but with something as simple as valentine's day; that the history beyond the known facts that a christian known as valentine was martyed on feb 14th, why is there so much disdaine for it?

  Think About It

  All most sincerely devout JW's wanted to do was serve Jehovah in the way they thought he wanted to be served. They put their trust in the WTS and F&DS to formulate a belief system and lifestyle that accomplished this for them.

  The "true religion" JW's in the past celebrated holidays & birthdays, then it was accepted that "new light" determined it was pagan. Modern day JW kids missed out, were made fun of by other kids, and suffered no telling what other kind of emotional damage.

  All the while......the WTS was changing doctrine as you would change underwear (thus being wrong on things,) and was caught in bed with the UN.

  Do what your conscience says is right for the happiness of your family and do not be concerned with what JW's think.
